Who's ready for vacation?

In less than 72 hours-- we will be sipping pina coladas on the warm beaches of Ft.Lauderdale. The group decided to head to the sunshine state a day early to avoid the stresses of travel on Easter Sunday. Our upcoming cruise doesn't actually begin until noon on Sunday, but our vacation will begin the moment we land in Florida. We have been looking forward to this day for at least 6 months! I can't believe it's right around the corner!
We are getting ready by shopping, tanning, haircutting, etc... the only thing we forgot to do was get skinny. Maybe next time!
I can't even begin to tell you how much I need a vacation... I am just about ready to blow! Third graders are sick of being in school-- and frankly, I am sick of them being at school. I even wondered if I could send a secret note home today letting parents know that they could start spring break a day earlier with third graders if they wanted to! I am using tactics that I haven't had to use since the first days of school-- like rest your head-- you know it's bad in Ms.Brock's class-- when you walk by and all 20 students are resting their heads for math! I almost had to get out the duct tape today!
I think the breaking point was Isaiah this afternoon. A parent and teacher entered the room towards the end of the day (same time but for different reasons)-- just as Isaiah turns to me and yells-- that's right, yells--- "Ms.Brock-- Danyea keeps saying it looks like I'm free balling it today-- what does it mean to be free balling?"
yeah--- like I said-- third graders rested their head quite a bit today!
Tomorrow is the last day of school before spring break-- lord help us! Actually, lord forgive us for the celebrating we'll be doing on the patio at La Fuente afterwards--- and the dancing and rooftop madness at the Brock's to follow!! As a 'spring break send off' we're having a 'Spring Fling' dance for the kids! Won't that be fun! Just imagine 240+ students in the gym grinding to ghetto style jams! Dr.Mortimore has insisted that all teachers give the 'no sex on the dance floor' speech before any students are allowed to dance... that's right... we need to articulate what 'sexy' dancing (which is okay) looks like versus 'having sex' dancing (which is not okay)... I can't wait to blog about that conversation!
