And we're off...

Good Morning! Our vacation started out with a bang! 3am sharp—the first alarm sounded—3:03am—alarm number two (just in case). I haven’t decided whether you call that time of day ‘morning’ or a ‘really good night’. Our driver was on time—and our ride to Midway was relatively uneventful! The Air Tran check in was a different story…

We got in the ‘main’ line—only to discover the kiosk over in the ‘baggage lane’—so we moved to the ‘baggage only lane’—and then had to drag our suitcases back through the crowd to the ‘bag screening machine’ line—yeah—by now it was after 5am (and our flight was at 5:35).

So… we ran to the ‘people screening machine’ line and my adorable husband, of course, was just about strip searched. He had to remove his change, wallet, necklace, hat, shoes, watch, phone…etc. And then he had to lift his shirt… pull down his shirt… and roll down his pants… yeah.. it would have been quicker if he had stripped! As if that wasn’t enough, then the man put on a rubber glove…. and asked if Jason had ever ‘done anything like this before’…. and Jason said, ‘it depends on what you’re going to do with that glove’….

Yeah… so then we had to stop at the bathroom… forgetting to exchange that final nod of ‘meet you right here’ before we went in… so, we both had different ideas of what to do when we were finished in the bathroom… I waited near the boys room—pacing and yelling in the bathroom (because the lady at the gate warned me that they were closing the door in 2 minutes)… and Jason had gone through the gate and told them I’m right behind him… it was one of those crazy gates where you walk through the door and down 4 loooooong hallways before you actually reach the aircraft…. Yeah… so finally, the ‘gate keeper’ asked if I was looking for my husband---because there was apparently some crazy husband on the other end looking for his wife…

So after the cuss- filled reunion… we were on our way…

And now… the storm has calmed… and we are sipping Starbucks in the Atlanta airport… can almost see the cruise ship from here!
