Mackinac Bridge

It's only our second night-- and wow-- have we seen the UP! After spending the day exploring the falls and having lunch along the shores of Lake Superior, we headed south to St.Ignace. Again, we had a great camping spot right on the lake! We set up camp and had marinated flank steak on the grill.

After dinner we headed to Mackinaw City to get ice cream and walk around the shops. What an adorable town! Jason set up the tripod when we returned to our campsite-- and captured a few unbelievable photos! He even got a few pictures of lightning before the storm came through:

Tahquamenon Falls

Our next stop was Paradise--- literally--- Paradise, Upper Michigan!

We arrived to our site at about 9pm after a full day at Pictured Rocks Park-- another beautiful site! We were lucky enough to have a spot right on the river. There was a slight breeze to help with some of the humidity from the day.

We immediately set up camp and lit the fire for dinner-- you always appreciate the food just a little bit more when you have to go to extreme lengths to cook it! We had corn on the cob and hamburgers-- mmmmm---

The next day we woke up with the sun and explored the area a little. There was cloud cover today, thankfully, it helped with the heat a little. There was also a little rain here and there to cool us off-- then we could blame the sweat spots on our shirts from the 'rain'-- another trick for chubby hikers!

We rented a row boat and rowed to an island-- for a better view of the falls-- Jason, the photographer, documented our every move!

Then we hiked around the island for some close-up views:

and finally.... drove to the look out point of the 'Upper Falls'.... the second largest falls east of the Mississippi!
